IBV wetakecare

  • IBV coordinates the project Wetakecare

  • An application will teach carers to reduce the dependency of older people

Valencia, January 17th 2014.- IBV attended to the second project meeting of the European project Wetakecare, hld on the 13th and 14th of January in Cordoba and hosted by the project partner CPMI (Centro de Produccion Multimedia para la television Interactiva). It is an initiative co-funded by the program Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) of the European Commission.

The partners of the project attended this meeting with the main objective of setting up the needs and requirements to define the Wetakecare system. As a result of the research undertaken last months, the consortium has prioritized these needs and profiles in which the Wetakecare system will focus the development.

This first stage of the project defines the conceptual development and preproduction system where the participation of final users (VASOS Association) have been crucial to ensure that the work reflects the reality of the elderly, and in addition provide the basis to obtain project results with high level of social and technological impact.

WeTakeCare project aims to empower the collaborative caring and training between the older person and the non-professional carer, in order to promote the independent living of the older person. Hence, the autonomous performance of Activities of the Daily Living (ADL) by the older person will be encouraged while training and supporting the caregiver in the provision of care, improving the quality of the provided care as well as safeguarding their own physical, physiological and occupational health.

WeTakeCare will develop an interactive and multimodal system for the training on ADL, build mainly on software solutions running on off-the-shelve hardware equipment, including a TV, Microsoft's Kinect, PC or Computer Appliance with broadband connection and a portable device as Tablet or Smartphone.

The partners of the project are, among IBV as coordinator, CPMTI (Spain), KAASA (Germany), ZHAW (Switzerland) y and VASOS (Switzerland), and with the collaboration of Bayard, Ayuntamiento de Mislata (Oficina del Mayor) and Seniorer I TIDEN.
